LADOTD has modified its concrete specification for structural concrete to increase density and decrease permeability. This was done to increase life of structures by reducing the ability of chlorides to permeate the concrete and corrode reinforcing steel.
This seminar will review the background of what the specification intends to accomplish and what is required of a supplier to meet the new requirements. Additionally new test methods have been introduced to determine whether the higher concrete density has been achieved. All aspects of the new specification and mix adjustments will be covered.
This seminar will be of interest to both industry staff on the production side and government staff on the project management side of the equation. Examples of successes and challenges from several recent projects will be used to help define what are now seen to be best practices.
